The number of options available for both birth control and disease prevention are more diverse than ever. Despite the advances of modern technology, it is easier for a woman to control contraception than disease prevention. Barrier methods are the only disease prevention technique that is effective against the diverse agents that cause sexually transmitted diseases. Traditionally, the man has been the partner in control of whether or not barrier protection, in the form of condoms, was used during intercourse.

The good news is that women have new power to keep themselves safe when they choose to enjoy the pleasures that sex provides. Instead of making the man put on a condom, a woman can make the decision herself and use a female condom.

Data from medical studies supports the value of female condoms in preventing disease and pregnancy. Women are more likely to avoid the dangers of unprotected sex when they plan ahead and obtain condoms prior to being in a situation in which sex is likely. Many women appreciate the control that using female condoms provides.

In a recent study published in the European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive Health Care (December, 2008), scientists discovered that over a third of more than 200 women in the study reported that male partners assisted them in using the female condom. In most cases, the condom was used as recommended in the instructions for use. This study shows that many men actually enjoy the use of a female condom and are willing to help their partner in using one.

Sometimes female condoms are difficult to find in local stores. To buy female condoms, planning ahead and shopping online is the most covenient plan. In addition to buying female condoms, you can also find a larger variety of other products by purchasing condoms and accessories online

For some women sex is a way to express love. Or, it may simply be a form of stress release or recreation. When sex involves intimate contact with a stranger or a new friend, a woman can increase her level of safety without detracting from the pleasure of sex by including a female condom in the mix.
